Matte is trendy, at least on this side of Atlantic. Have a look to the growing number of car manufacturers who offer in their catalogue a matte finish.
As far as I can remember, matte finish made its appearance in France in the late 90's. At this time, it was all painting, which meant a lot of job to prepare the car for a perfect finish. Then, two years ago, the wraps made its appearance. Through a specific adhesive film, it is possible to transform the look of its car in a few hours while preserving its original paint.
Based in the South of France, ood'X, a French company specialised in graphic design and communication, is run by an automotive enthusiast. Working in the stickers’ business since 1999, he decided to create a wrap pole.
To show its know-how, and especially demonstrate that high quality wrapping associated with a good choice of rims are enough to radically transform a car appearance, ood'X chose a Renault Twingo RS. These small cars (Twingo Rs, Mini Cooper S, Abarth 500, etc.) have a great success in France. Motorized with a 4 cylinder 1600 cm3 which displays 133ch origin, this small “bombinette“ has a Cup chassis, an option from the manufacturer. The RS version has a complete body kit significantly more aggressive than the basic Twingo. ood'X has worked on RS’ body to bring out the aggressive side of the car by varying shades of matte black and khaki.
